You don't have to renovate your bedroom to change how it feels at night. Start by looking at it after the lights go out. That's when the little things become visible.
Look for the light you didn't invite
A charger LED. The gap around a curtain. A bright display across the room. Walk through your bedroom at night and notice where your eye lands. Some lights can be covered or moved; others are part of the space you're in.
Build a gentler transition
The room doesn't have to go from bright to black in a second. A smaller lamp can make the last part of the evening feel quieter. When you're ready, turn it off and give your eyes a moment to settle into the dark.
Take your darkness with you
If you share a room, travel often, or can't change the lighting, a sleep mask can create a familiar sense of dark wherever you are. It's a small layer you can control when the rest of the room isn't yours to change.
The best sleep space isn't necessarily the most perfectly styled one. It's the one that lets you feel ready to close your eyes.
